How do you feel you are benefitting from this internship?
I am learning more about my major as well as how to adapt to foreign environments and cultures. I am seeing the world through a new lens, and I am loving every minute of it!

What have been your favourite aspects of the programme?
Definitely meeting new people and learning about different cultures and environments

What has been your greatest challenge in this position?
I think the 16-hour difference is definitely the biggest challenge to overcome because NZ is a day ahead of us, but through thorough communication, the time difference is no longer an issue.

What are the key skills you have learnt?
I have learned to be more adaptable, open-minded, flexible, self-aware and independent.

What were your favourite aspects of the programme.
I really enjoyed the flexibility of the internship and understanding from my supervisor. It made me feel like I could learn more rather than being scared of sharing my opinions or mentioning I had a busy day.

I am so thrilled I was paired with my host company. My supervisor is amazing and I have learned a lot from her regarding tourism and the NZ culture.I would do it all over again!

How do you feel you are benefitting from this internship?
Good, I am learning a lot and learning how to work remotely.

What have been your favourite aspects of the programme?
The cultural debriefs are fun and interesting and learning new skills through my internship like writing literature reviews is good. The opportunities to learn new skills and gain insight into careers related to Biology.

What has been your greatest challenge in this position?
My greatest challenges were time management and communication. Working remotely is definitely different, but will become the new normal.

What are the key skills you have learnt?
Researching and writing a literature review, coding mouse behavior, pivot tables in excel.

I have learned a great deal about New Zealand’s human rights and climate change organisations, activities, and policies. I have had the opportunity to pose questions directly to components of the New Zealand government, and it has been rewarding to see that they have been very forthcoming. I feel like this project can identify meaningful improvements to New Zealand’s external human rights regime.

I learned a lot of different data analyzing skills that I wouldn't have originally known how to do. But most importantly I learned how to persevere through tough times like working at home during a lockdown. I didn't have strict due dates so I had to take it upon myself to get the work done even from home.
