Architectural Engineering

Some of the tasks that may be expected of you as an Architectural Engineering intern are:
  • Various duties, such as site investigation, and design work as assigned by the engineers.
  • Designing ideas, and materials selection.
  • Assisting with architectural drawing and model making.

Tasks for an intern in the field of chemical engineering may include:
  • Providing process data management services.
  • Technical/engineering advice.
  • Project direction.
  • Assisting with sustainability improvements.

Civil Engineering​

 
 As an Civil Engineering intern, some of the tasks that may be expected of you are to:
  • Carry out analysis and design of buildings and other structures under direction.
  • Carry out investigation of building sites, existing buildings and structures, and fire or earthquake damaged structures.

The role of a previous Environmental Engineering intern was to assist the Senior Process Engineers in the following areas:
  • Operational support of water and wastewater treatment plant operations.
  • Process and plant design for water and wastewater treatment plants. 
  • Modelling of water and wastewater treatment plants and reticulation systems.
  • Advanced water and wastewater treatment process control.
  • Providing process data management services.

Hydraulic Engineering​

 
The role of a Hydraulic Engineering intern would be:
  • To assist with some groundwater modelling projects.
  • To assist at the Engineering Office, where you will interact with the field engineers, the workshop technicians, design team and project team​.
  • Design and model planned field sites based on results from laboratory experiments and the associated models.
  • To assist with laboratory experiments and the initial site characterization of the filed sites.

Metallurgical Engineering

 
Engineering Internship New Zealand
Metallurgical Engineering is the study of metals. Combining theory and practice, degree programs cover the mining, extraction, design and processing of metals, as well as how metals react to environmental changes or stress. Metallurgists use their specialised knowledge of the chemical and physical properties of metals and minerals to extract them from their natural ores, and further refine them through processes such as casting or alloying. An intern in this field might be involved in research related to these subjects.
