Arts and Photography related internships are extremely varied. Interns in these sectors take on all kinds of work which is generally quite specific to the company in which they are working. Some of the work that may be asked of them within a studio includes:
  • Assisting with clients, studio shoots and post-production work on Photoshop.
  • Location work: assisting the onsite photographer and potentially working as a second shooter.
  • Designing brochures, drafting media releases, editing videos, hosting events, collaborating with a company's artistic director, and being involved with the running of galleries.

Hotel Management

 
Hotel Management interns may be involved with:
  • Attending to general organisation of the hotel and taking full control of day-to-day operations when required by management.
  • Assisting with training and maintaining a stable work force.
  • Maintaining good interdepartmental communications.
  • Covering any department of the hotel when required.
  • Whilst on duty, overseeing all staff and ensuring all operational procedures are carried out as set by General Manager
  • Ensuring staffing levels are carefully controlled and that staffing costs are maintained at levels set by the General Manager.
  • Ensuring all areas of the hotel are maintained at the highest level of service.

Library Services 

 
​Culture, Arts and Recreation Internship Australia
In the past, the duties of a Library Services intern have been divided into two main tasks:
  • ​Assisting and encouraging visitors to discover, explore, create and learn, inspired by the Library’s collections and expertise. This includes working face-to-face with customers to support their engagement with creative suite technologies, especially Premier Pro and Photoshop; developing knowledge and skills in 3D printing, in order to introduce customers to the technology; and supporting the Library’s work on the 3D environment, collections, archives and access.
  • Working with the Research Access team in the Alexander Turnbull Library, undertaking research into effects of digital scholarship in the research library, and preparing papers, recommendations or service models based on the research results.

Museum/Gallery Curator

 
As a Museum/Gallery Curator intern, some of the tasks that may be asked of you are:
  • Researching and the documentation of contextual information relating to collection items, exhibitions or publications.
  • Assist in documenting oral histories from community members - i.e. traditional stories and oral history.
  • Delivering cultural awareness programmes.
