Construction and Urban Planning Internship in New Zealand
Some of the tasks that an architecture internship might include are:
  • Examining the feasibility, social, economic and environmental impact of urban developments.
  • AutoCAD drafting, and potentially experience with Revit.
  • Assisting with architectural drawing and model making.
  • Assisting with maintaining design tools, such as spreadsheets.
  • Producing detailed workings, drawings and specifications.

Construction Management 

 
There are various tasks that are involved in the Construction Management industry. Among them are some of the following:
  • Assisting the project managers in attending design or construction meetings, and drafting minutes of meeting. 
  • Assisting in the administration of contracts, including writing site instructions.
  • Coordinating responses to contractor requests for information, and claims review.
  • Issuing tender documentation, including compiling contracts.
  • ​Spend a number of hours on construction sites, as all construction meetings are held on site.
  • Ensuring each project is completed to plan and to budget.
  • Ordering of materials.

Landscape Design 

 
Construction and Urban Planning Internship in New Zealand
The role will be quite diverse and include, but not be limited to, the following:
  • Bush regeneration activities, including mulching, weeding, planting of native species and general garden maintenance duties.
  • triangulation from existing site features such as buildings, fences, trees, etc.
  • Planting plans, paving, fencing, lawn construction.
  • Identification of landscape features.
  • Concept Design.
  • Design presentation to give the client a clear picture of the design outcomes.

Quantity Surveying

 
Some of the intern's responsibilities may include:
  • Assisting the Survey Technician with field surveys, including land transfer. topographical, height to boundary, and building set outs.
  • Liaising with clients, associated consultants and company agents and suppliers.
  • Assisting the Directors in maintaining high standards of customer service.
  • Operating survey equipment and placing survey marks.
  • Maintenance and replacement of survey consumables and stock, field tools, and health and safety equipment.
  • Ensuring all contracts are carried out in a safe manner, and assisting current Quantity Surveyors by monitoring labour performance.

Construction and Urban Planning Internship in New Zealand
This internship provides the next step for a highly motivated young planner looking to make the next step in their career. Some of the duties an intern in urban planning may do include:
  • Research projects examining the feasibility, social, economic and environmental, impact of urban developments.
  • Investigating a number of commercially nominated sustainable projects under design, commercial and environmental perspectives.
  • Developing an implementation framework for urban development - informed by the Central City Framework and timetabled upgrade works.
  • Asset ownership for urban development devices agreement, including operations and maintenance between the different business units.
  • Taking a lead role or being part of working group writing the Wellington urban development chapter for the Regional Standard for Water Services inclusion.
