Types of Visas suitable for an internship
- Resident or Citizen: New Zealand and Australia
- Student Visa: The student visa is available for New Zealand and Australia but working hours are limited to 20 hours per week. You are already enrolled in a study institute in New Zealand or Australia.
- Student and Trainee Visa: This visa option is only available for New Zealand and the internship has to be a course requirement of your studies. You must provide a letter from your study institute stating that the internship can receive credit. The letter must include your name.
- Work Visa: This option is possible for New Zealand and Australia. You must already have a work visa. An offer letter of an internship cannot secure a work visa.

The map in orange shows countries that are eligible for a Working Holiday Visa in Australia and the map in blue shows the countries that are eligible for a Working Holiday Visa in New Zealand. Many countries have limited quotas. - Visitor Visa: If you plan to visit anyway and want to do an internship in a non-profit organisation, you are allowed to do this as it is considered "voluntary work". It cannot be the main purpose of your visit.
